Last Day of Freedom

Today was my last day of total freedom until next June.

That sounds depressing, but I have to remember that I have had two and a half great months of relaxing, playing, and rejuvenating.  This summer I have done those things more than any summer so far.  In fairness, teachers do the work of 12 months in a 9 and a half month time frame so those summer vacations are awfully important. Anyone who says otherwise is probabaly crazy.  Or a politician.

I am starting back tomorrow with meetings for the next week and a half.  I've been working on my classroom for the past week or so, just a little bit at a time.  I didn't have too much that I HAD to do, but I had things that I definitely wanted to get done before meetings started this week.  Filing, organizing, a few little changes here and there, bulletin boards, etc.  It is just nice to have the basic stuff taken care of so I can spend my "free" time planning instead of cleaning and such.

I am actually pretty excited to go back.  I always get to this point in the summer and wish for about 3 more weeks so I could do all the things I haven't fit into the summer, but besides that, I feel like I have had a great break!  I haven't done as many "big" things as I usually do during the summers (like travel to foreign countries or spend time at the local pool) but I have certainly had a great summer.  Running, crafting, collaging, painting, going to parties and activities, small traveling, weddings...all in all it has been productive and (mostly) fun!

In order to celebrate the last days of summer, I went to the dentist.  I know, I am a party-and-a-half!  I really know how to have fun!  Good news though: after refusing to go to the dentist for 2 years (I seem to average that because I hate going to the dentist) I was cavity, and even tartar, free!  I was dreading news that I might have to get root canals or have 12 cavities filled, but thanks to my genes, I have good, strong teeth that haven't had cavities in over 4 years!  Yay!

Unfortunately, I must end by saying adieu to my lovely, favorite, happiest time of year.  Summer, I love thee and hope to enjoy a few more days here and there of the summer feeling.  Until next June...I bid thee farewell!

2 things to make my day worthwhile:
